In accordance with Russian Federal law No. 123-FZ “Technical regulations on fire safety requirements” translucent constructions must conform to the requirements for fire resistance.
Standard polished glass, laminated glass, insulating glass unit glass cannot withstand rapid temperature rise during a fire and they burst within 8-10 minutes.
For protection against fire, smoke and combustion products, there are 2 types of fire resistant glass:
Monolithic fire resistant glass
Laminated fire resistant glass
Monolithic fire resistant glass is a monolithic specially tempered glass which meets the criteria for fire resistance classes of preserving the integrity of E15 to E60 (of double glazed units). Due to exposure to high temperature such glass does not become turbid and does not expand, it maintains its integrity during the time specified in the formula (in minutes).
Laminated fire resistant glass is laminated glass with transparent intermediate layers expanding under high temperature stress. In case of fire at a temperature of about 120°C, these layers change their physical properties and glass is transformed into a rigid and opaque protective structure that allows the glass to keep:
integrity, i.e. ensure that there are no cracks or holes through which combustion products or flame penetrate;
thermal insulating capacity i.e. prevent thermal transmission to the protected space by radiation.
Fire-resistant glass on the ability to maintain the integrity, limit or completely prevent thermal radiation (thermal energy transmission) are divided into 3 fire resistance classes:
Fire resistance class E - glass retains its integrity, prevents the penetration of flames, smoke and hot gases (but not thermal radiation) within a certain time without formation of through cracks or holes.
Fire resistance class EW - design retains its integrity and limits the thermal radiation (heat transfer) to the protected area.
Fire resistance class EI - structure retains its integrity and completely prevents thermal radiation penetration (heat transfer) to the protected area. The glass temperature on the opposite with respect to the fire-side is not more than 140°C (medium) or it exceeds the glass temperature under normal conditions for 180°(in one measuring point).
Fire resistance of each item is determined by the time (in minutes) for which this element can meet all evaluation criteria: at least 15-30-45-60-90-120-180 min.
Features:
Ensure safety of people
Protection of the building's infrastructure and limit fire damage
Ensuring the safe evacuation and access of rescue and fire fighting services
Unlike other fire resistant materials fire resistant glazing ensures natural light and comfortable living environment and it also allows realizing various design solutions.

The insulating glass units from the fire resistant glass (including in combination with coated glass)
Glass used:
In the range of JSC “RGC" the glass used in the insulated glass units is from the fire resistant glass of AGC and Pilkington production: AGC Pyropane, Pyrobelite, Pyrobel, Pilkington Pyroclear, Pyrodur, Pyrostop.
Glass thickness | Minimum size | Maximum size |
---|---|---|
7 - 52 mm | 100 х 100 mm | 2000 х 3000 mm |
JSC “RGC" has all the technological capabilities for processing the fire resistant glass:
Cutting to the required dimensions;
Manufacturing of various shapes (rectangle shape, radius form);
The manufacturing of the insulating glass units with other types of glass, with any type of spacer (including warm edge) with a decorative moulding, with polysulfide or silicone sealants.
Оrder Recommendations:
Instructions for ordering fire resistant tempered glass:
Similar recommendations by tempered glass and windows with tempered glass
Instructions for work with multilayered glass Fire:
Avoid contact with the metal glass;
Always leave the possibility to move the glass in the construction of (0.5-1 mm);
Do not damage the glass edge and masking tape;
Use mounting blocks made of hardwood (Shore A 75);
Observe the clearance angle of 4-5 mm;
Observe side clearance of 4-5 mm;
The depth of the grooves should be at least 20 mm;
Keep the grooves dry and clean of aggressive materials (acids, organic solvents);
Avoid any contact of the glass edges with the water;
Immediately after opening of glazing apply neutral silicone sealant or a dry seal.
Glass should not be long-term effected by the temperature below -40 ° C, above 40 ° C or located near a heat source. To prevent heating of the glazing there can be used a solar protective glass;
Do not allow moisture get onto the glass edge. The glass must be installed into a ventilated frame with a water-collecting system to prevent moisture penetration into the grooves;
Damage or removal of the protective tape is not allowed.
For facades it is required to use a fire resistant glass with UV filter = PVB film 0,76mm, in certain types of Pyrobel or as a part of window glass unit with multilayer external laminated glass not less than 33.2:
OR
With horizontal glazing thick glass outside:
Unpacked glass is stored in an upright, slightly inclined (6-10 °) position, with the obligatory support of the entire plane on the rear wall of the halt, the angle of which is 90 °:
Boxes with glass or unpacked glass should be stored in a dry, well-ventilated place that is sheltered from sunlight.
