1. The mechanical load on the glass - hitting hard, sharp, heavy and "soft" subjects; as well as the load under the influence of firearms or ammunition. To prevent glass destruction due to this type of loads there is applied a safety glass.
2. Climatic load on the glass - the stresses to which the glass is exposed to and / or it`s articles for construction purposes when exposed to forces and wind speed, snow masses, temperature fluctuations and atmospheric pressure, intensity of solar radiation.
During operation there is tension in the glass unit caused by the unilateral action of forces: wind and snow (for translucent roofs), or double-sided loads due to changes in atmospheric pressure and air temperature.

Thus, tension of the glass in glass units depends to a large extent on the air temperature in the space between glass panes, thus - changes throughout the life of the glass unit, starting immediately from the date of manufacturing and assembly on the site. With the right choice of formula and glass design climatic loads are not the cause of its destruction. In the case of a wrong choice of glass formulas, they can cause depressurization of glass and glass breaking.
3. Thermal shock
By significant changes in temperature between the different areas of glazing unreinforced glass can be destroyed due to thermal shock. Glass expands when heated; This is not a danger, if the temperature is increased uniformly throughout the sheet. However, if part of the glass is cold, it prevents expansion of the heated areas. This leads to an increase of tensile stress that can exceed the mechanical strength of the glass. If there is such a risk, the glass should be chilled or thermostrengthened.
